MARKET DYNAMICS

KEY DRIVERS:

  • Growing Adoption of Digital Devices

The increasing popularity of smartphones and tablets, which require styluses for precise input and navigation, is a major driver of the market.  These devices are used for a variety of tasks, including gaming, note-taking, and drawing, all of which can be enhanced by using a stylus.

  • Increasing Popularity of Note-Taking and Digital Art Applications

RESTRAIN:

  • Limited Functionality Compared to Active Styluses

Active styluses use built-in batteries and emit low-frequency signals to interact with the touchscreen, enabling features like pressure sensitivity and palm rejection. Capacitive styluses, on the other hand, rely on the device's own capacitance and offer  more basic functionality  like a simple touch.

  • There can be  pairing issues  or  a lack of pressure sensitivity  with certain devices.

OPPORTUNITY:

  • Increasing demand for precise input and navigation on digital devices

With the growing popularity of large-screen smartphones and tablets, users are increasingly demanding a more precise way to interact with these devices than their fingers can provide. Capacitive styluses offer a more natural and accurate way to write, draw, and navigate on touchscreens.

  • Expansion into new applications in education, healthcare, and business.

  • Growing adoption of convertibles and 2-in-1 devices

CHALLENGES:

  • The  material used for the stylus tip can be prone to  wearing down or breaking over time, especially with  heavy use.

IMPACT OF RUSSIAN UKRAINE WAR

According to Kataryna Wolczuk, associate fellow in the Chatham House Russia and Eurasia project, the war has sped steps that were 'unthinkable' before the war, such as Ukraine's EU candidate status being granted within three months. Similarly, the European Peace Facility budget, which was rarely utilized prior to the Ukraine war, has been used five times, providing €2.5 billion in cash and equipment for Ukraine's defenses. Russia's incursion has also bolstered NATO's deterrence posture and forward presence in Eastern Europe. According to Jamie Shea, Putin has'managed the trick of drawing NATO closer than ever before' through greater exercises, increased preparedness, and reinforcement methods. Finland and Sweden, who have previously avoided NATO membership in order to avoid antagonizing Russia, are also joining.

IMPACT OF ECONOMIC SLOWDOWN

The capacitive stylus market faces a potential pinch during economic downturns. Consumer spending on electronics tends to mirror the broader economy, and the 2008 recession saw a significant 13% decline in global electronics sales. This could translate to a similar decrease in demand for styluses, which are often viewed as non-essential accessories.

As consumers tighten their belts, they might become more receptive to affordable options that enhance their existing devices. A research report suggests a 10-15% increase in demand for budget-friendly electronics during economic hardship. This could benefit the market for lower-priced capacitive styluses, offering a chance to gain traction through affordability while the overall market contracts

Lastly, we have exchange relationships with various university as well as individual libraries.

Secondary Research

Step 2: Primary Research

When we talk about primary research, it is a type of study in which the researchers collect relevant data samples directly, rather than relying on previously collected data.  This type of research is focused on gaining content specific facts that can be sued to solve specific problems. Since the collected data is fresh and first hand therefore it makes the study more accurate and genuine.
